Author Says Personal Productivity is Like building. If we want to build Great and sustainable building that survive in all weathers ... What is the most important thing that we need ...???

It's Solid Foundation ... Correct ... !

Similarly For Great and Sustainable Productivity... We need to Have Solid Foundation.


To Have Solid Foundation for Personal Productivity , the following blocks need to be in place.


You need to Have Learning and growing mindset. Growth Mindset oriented people knows that with hard work and practice , They Can be Good at anything.


Correct Physical activities help you to boost your energy level that Result in better happiness and become more creative. Beside this it also help you to reduce weight , minimize health issues and take good sleep.


It's says One Diet does not fit All. These are food that can make you more (Or less) Productive and paying attention to your diet will have dramatic impact on how you feel and how Energized you are.


Beside above three blocks , Enough Sleep is one of the most Imp block.

Lack of enough sleep linked to poor performance and bad alertness. Also it Increase possibilities of weight gain , Health issues and memory problems.

Getting 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep is magic number Specially for adults.


#1stTip : " Have a powerful start to your day "


Author says we always busy when we want to Give time to ourself i.e. "Me Time".

Best Me Time is Morning Time


By learning to get up earlier, you can add more flexibility to your morning and enjoy a better start to your day. Follow Small Incremental Formula. Try to wake up in little bit early from your daily routines. For example If daily you wake up by 8AM , Next day try to wake up by 7:30 ( Just 30 Mins Earlier from your daily routine). Follow this wake up cycle for next few days than again change the cycle. Slowly and gradually you will Start wake up early in morning. Have patience and Start Small.


When you switch to earlier wake up Cycle , there is also one point which you need to pay high attention : Time you go to BED. Otherwise you end up making the same mistake I did. Even if I woke up early, I didn’t change my bed-going time accordingly and this made me a sleep-deprived “office zombie.”


Decide Exactly how much sleep you need For example for 7 hours of sleep ... you need to go to bed accordingly say 11 pm if you want to wake up by 6 am. Wake up with small incremental formula.


Once you adopted this new routine of go to bed early and wake up early routine.

Utilize your ME TIME to the fullest. For Example You Can Meditate , Read a Self help / Technical books , Exercise / Go for Walk , Write , Build your business.


Depend on individual what they want to Achieve in there ME TIME but Generally Most successful people spend most of there early morning time to take one step toward there Goal. You can take the advantage of these early hours too, to get closer to your goals and dreams.

#2ndTIP : " Understand your optimal working rhythm "


To Improve your Focus and Effectiveness , Try to find the optimum working style that's Suits You.


Below are 3 Working Style author shared in the book.If none of the work style suits you , You Can follow your own style. Remember End result matters i.e. You need to be more Focus and Effective in your work style.


One 25 mins work session is called as Pomodoro. This popular Technique says Break the Work sessions into 25 Mins followed By 5 mins Break. After 4 Pomodoro

( 4 * (25 work + 5 Break) ) You Can take 15 - 30 Mins of Break.


As per Sleep Researcher Nathan Kleitman , Our Body work In 90 minutes cycle.

This 90 Minutes interval are peak time of our Focus and Productivity followed by Lower energy phase of 20 Minutes. So work In 90 Minutes Block followed by 20 Minutes of break.


3) 52 -17

As per Draugiem Group, The ideal work length / Break ratio for the most productive people is 52/17. In other words, Work for 52 mins and take 17 mins break. Result based on top 10% Productive Employees.


Two things to keep in Mind

1) Do something Energetic during your break time.

2) Use some Timer to monitor your work and breaks.

#3rdTIP : " Keep Distraction At Bay "


Distraction are all around us and it's can ruin Complete work hours in your day. It's very Important to protect our precious hours so that we can work out on your planned work.


Author says there are three types of distraction.



Let's see One By One.


Tools like Internet , email , Phones , IM and other social media. You don't have to completely eliminate yourself from this tools but Have window period say 3 to 4 times a days each of 15 to 30 mins when you will check your all communication tools and reply accordingly to respective person / Group. Keep your phone muted when you are at Work.


Other source of Distraction is people around you. If you are working from Home than it's ur family members or near by neighbors. If you are in office than ur colleagues.

Author says there are three things which you can do.

#a) Make Do Not Disturb request to people near by you in polite and humble way.

#b) Change your location might be cafeteria , Conference rooms , Library or outside in nature where you feel more focus and avoid this distraction.

#c) Engage in Random Tricks like wearing Noice free Headphone/earphone. Even if you don't listen to anything , People will have impression that you are listening something and they won't disturb you.

If you can't find any other way than Try to show up to the office Earlier than other. You will find complete peace and you will have more focus.


Another distraction that make us go off-track is Internal Distraction.

It's your Idea and thoughts that are main responsible for internal distraction.


To avoid this, Author says

#a) Have Good enough sleep bcz half sleep mind create more distraction.

#b) Implement distraction free list, It means when ever you get any idea and thoughts Just write on peace of paper. After finishing your entire days work you can focus on those list and plan to work and finish those Ideas and Thoughts accordingly.

#4thTIP : "Never start Your Day Unplanned "


Implement the habit of starting your day in advance. This way you exactly know where you need to Focus on when you start your day. Prepare Daily Task list with Deadline timing into it. This will boost your Productivity because you know what task you are doing and don't waste your time on unessential stuff. You can write your Daily task list on piece of paper or computer / mobile to do task list.


Priority wise Write down 3 to 4 most Important task along with some lower priority task so that you make progress in every level.


Once you picked the task that you are going to do , do some necessary preparation like arranging the required documents, Materials or items that will be required before you start you work day. With this extra Step , You will start your work much quicker and focus on your assignment instead of wasting time here and there in arranging require materials and items for your work.


A closed task list means that you decide not to add any new tasks to your list, even if something new comes up in the middle of the next day. To mark the list as closed, all that is required is to draw a solid line / Virtual Line under the last item on your task list. However If you have Open list than we keep adding / Removing one or other task. This is never ending process and very much demotivating because after doing so much of work you feel That you not done so much of work. So Learn to close the Task List.


Here author want to say be Super Optimistic to complete your task in your Today To Do task List. Become a pessimist does mean you have to left ur work but Author want to say don't try to eat the entire elephant in One Go so commit to Those task that you can finish in One day and which is practically possible to complete by EOD. Other Task you can push for Next day. Make sure you also have some backup tasks for the day which can be pick up after you finish your Today To-Do Task List.

#5thTIP : "Drink water"


We all Know that Drinking water has many health benefits, including making your skin look good, helping you with weight loss, and keeping your stress levels down. But there are some productivity benefits too. A study made by The University of East London found that drinking water improves your brain performance by 14%.


So how much water should you drink on a daily basis?


The recommendation varies and clearly this depends on the person. But what’s important is that you have a glass of water sitting on your desk, reminding you to take a sip every once in a while. Make a decision to drink more water, starting today. Your body and brain will thank you for that!
